Priority data-packet from Coruscant:

We have received an encrypted transmission from a minor governor on Kauf. It contained some poor quality images and mildy corrupted design documents, likely caused by sub-par compression and the hasty encryption needed to send this quickly, that showed concerning developments by the CIS on the planet.
It appears that the CIS has been developing and constructing some sort of large scale, high-output, laser weapon. If the pictures and design scans they sent are accurate, this weapon code named “Holy Spear” could not only reach Coruscant, but also deliver a devastating payload.
The files show the CIS has also been conscripting the locals as a hard labor force to accelerate building the weapon and it’s support facilities.
Shortly after receiving this data, we lost contact with the local government and leadership. It is assumed that the CIS noticed this leak and have since captured or killed those responsible. If possible, we would ask that we find any information on the fate of these brave souls.
We have tasked the 9th Assault Corps to remove this threat with all due haste and at all costs.

As the file reads, we have been deployed to Kauf to destroy this dire threat to the Republic and all supporting facilities. These include the laser itself, the three alignment centers, and the anti-air towers providing an area of denial against friendly air forces.
Comms chatter has been intercepted that suggests the 13th Defense Fleet is inbound to intercept the Phoenix. It is imperative that we cripple the air defenses in the area so Stryx can counter the incoming enemy air assets and support our ground operations. In the event that Stryx is occupied, the Phoenix’s cannons and point-defense should prove sufficient to, at least, keep the 13th from destroying the venator.
There are two additional signals that we have detected from orbit that our scans cannot provide any additional information on. This could be a result of interference from the weapons’ power source or more conventional jamming. These signals are not strong enough to pinpoint. More information may be available during the pre-deployment briefing.
As requested by HQ, when possible, Apollo, Hydra, and Stryx are tasked with finding any information on the leaders that have gone missing.
